Mother Meera's School in India – Information and Volunteer Opportunities

Mother Meera has opened a school for small children at Her ashram in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, India. The school will provide an education for children who would otherwise have no means to obtain it. All classes are taught in English or Telegu. Children, ranging in age from 3 – 14, are already enrolled in school and are receiving their education under Mother's care and guidance. More children will be accepted each semester as space permits.

School Volunteers: The school is now looking for volunteers who have a natural affinity and ability to work with children. In the kindergarten, volunteers will work with young children from 2 to 6 years of age. In the other classes, volunteers will support the teachers. A good knowledge of English is necessary, and teaching experience would be helpful but is not essential. The intention is that the school will make a gradual transition to a child-centered model of learning. Most important is the volunteer’s willingness and ability to dedicate a committed period of time, beginning with the coming academic year (June 2011).
